JOINT CRISIS COMMITTEE

The Joint Crisis Committee (JCC) is a specialized committee format commonly used in Model United Nations (MUN) conferences. It simulates high-stakes, fast-paced diplomatic and military crises by involving two or more opposing blocs (or cabinets), often representing different countries or factions in a historical or fictional conflict. Each bloc operates separately, making decisions through debate and directives, while a central crisis team introduces real-time updates that evolve the situation.

The JCC format is unique because it combines traditional MUN debate with dynamic crisis management. Delegates must think critically, act quickly, and adapt to constantly changing scenarios, often involving war, diplomacy, espionage, and negotiation. JCCs are designed to test participants’ skills in strategy, teamwork, public speaking, and international relations under pressure.
